About Yisrael 

Rabbi Yisrael Shurack, MSW, BSW, BA, has been working with children, teens, and families for 20+ years.  Yisrael has a Bachelors of Social Work from the University of Victoria, a Masters of Social Work from the University of British Columbia, and Rabbinical Ordination from Rav Don Channen in Issur v'Heter and Rav Yaroslavsky in the Laws of Shabbos.  

Yisrael has been employed in social services for two decades, working with children, adults, and families with developmental disabilities and mental health, both in a client capacity, and a senior management role.  Yisrael has a full-time private practice and offers marriage counselling to couples and individuals.  He uses CBT with a focus on short-term and long-term solutions and strategies.  Yisrael has given a variety of workshops to groups and synagogues.  He leads pre-marriage classes with chossons and kallahs, and marriage workshops with newlyweds and seasoned couples. 

Yisrael offers both in-person and zoom/telephone sessions to clients in all time zones.  He has a background of running Jewish children’s and teens programs in USA, Canada, England, Australia, and Israel.  Yisrael is a father of 5 (B’H), and enjoys hiking, writing, and spending time with his family.  He can be reached by WhatsApp 1-604-272-7763 or via email at yshurack@gmail.com.
